Updated advice on coronavirus (Covid-19)
As information is forthcoming we will update this site using separate pages for specific local matters. Government, Hampshire County Council and B&DBC provide regular updates on their websites. We will not repeat them. Please use the links below to their sites:
Given the new strains of Covid-19 and the rising levels of infection, the government has announced a new lockdown from 5th January 2021.
Hampshire County Council and health partners continue to keep a close watch on the development of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak – with processes in place to respond if, and when required. The focus is on good respiratory and hand hygiene and specifically:
Wash your hands more often and for at least 20 seconds. Take a look at the NHS hand-washing technique:
Use soap and water or a hand sanitiser when you: get home or into work; blow your nose, sneeze or cough; and eat or handle food.
Hand sanitiser should be used only when you don’t have access to soap and water- as soap and water remains the best method to maintain hand hygiene.
Hands should be dried thoroughly after washing.
Connect to Support Hampshire has a useful page with links to a lot of useful information:
Burghclere Parish Council has been in touch with various local organisations:
Women’s Institute, Neighbourcare, Good Neighbour Network, Age Concern, Sports Club, Burghclere and Newtown Horticultural Society, the Church of Ascension, PCC and Community Café, and the clergy and staff of St Michaels School, all of whom have extensive links into the local community.
An Information Exchange Hub has been established to exchange messages, advice and best practice between all these groups and their memberships. We will post these on this website. If you wish to volunteer to help, please contact one of these groups or the Parish Clerk on email@example.com.
The Parish Council stands ready to facilitate and signpost assistance where needed during this phase and will update its position according to changes to the situation.
We encourage parishioners to look out for those who are most at risk and vulnerable. Where help is needed please contact your neighbours/family or friends, any of the organisations listed, national charities such as the Samaritans, or ourselves.
