The two Commons in Burghclere are Burghclere Common and Earlstone Common.  For the history of both Commons, please see Simon Melville’s record at https://8ae.8fa.myftpupload.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/The-Commons-of-Burghclere.pdf

The Herbert Plantation has – since its acquisition by Hampshire County Council in 1983 – been managed under the auspices of Burghclere Parish Council, and Hampshire County Council’s Countryside Service.  Neill Bruce, who has been involved for more than 30 years in conservation work has compiled maps, history and an extensive amount of naturalist data at: https://burghclerevillage.uk/herbertplantation/
