Portal Hall Windows

You may have noticed that the front windows of the Portal Hall have recently been upgraded! The old crittall windows have been replaced with double-glazed wooden frame windows, carefully chosen to restore the building’s original appearance and style from when it was built in 1889.

This significant improvement has been made possible by a generous government grant of £26,784 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which covered 90% of the project costs. The Parish Council, on behalf of Pinder Recreational Trust and the entire village, extends huge thanks for this support.

Special thanks are also due to Alan Abinger and his team for their excellent work in building and installing the new windows, as well as to Paul Walden decorators for their skillful painting and Ian Norman Architect for his expert advice and guidance throughout the process of obtaining listed building consent. These enhancements not only preserve the historic charm of Portal Hall but also improve its thermal efficiency, offering better control of the Hall's environment for all who use it.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK by investing in communities and places, supporting local businesses, and enhancing people’s skills.
